The overall project contains four subprojects:
Subproject 1: Sociolinguistics: Language Policy and Language Planning:
Subproject 2: Applied Linguistics: Computer Assisted Linguistics
Subproject 3: Literature: From Oral tradition to Rap
Subproject 4: Media: Citizenship, Consumerism and Media
A first application for the project was made in January 2005.
At the seminar “Research Seminar and Workshop in Ilulissat, Greenland. April 28
through May 2, 2005", the project was represented by 7 of its participants. For further information, see www.ipy.gl .
The project was clustered with a further project on Language Policy and Language Planning.

The project got a fine endorsement from the ICSU/WMO Joint Committee for the International Polar Year 2007-2008 in August 2005, see link for this at the right.
The project has now got the ID no 123 among the IPY projects – see e.g. at the website: www.dpc.dk
The strategy is to keep all participants updated and in contact with each other per e-mail and per this website.
Each of the subprojects has chosen a contact person and a second contact person.
